Summer Reading List 2006

I started an internship at the Glendale Central Library’s Children’s Room this summer, and their summer reading program ends this Saturday, August 5th. The theme of the summer reading program is “Paws, Claws, Scales and Tales.”

As part of the program, the kids who sign up just have to read 8 books and write them down in their reading log. Once they finish the 8 books and turn in the reading log, they get a certificate of accomplishment, a pencil, an animal eraser, 2 “READ” temporary tattoos, and until July 29th, a free ticket to a Dodger game on July 30th.

All of the proud and happy faces of the kids turning in their reading logs have inspired me to get reading and keep my own log of books I’ve read this summer. There are a good number of children’s cat & princess books in the list because I decided to do my storytime with a cat theme and because I have to do a princess bibliography for my internship.
